The Department of Applied Sciences, Chandigarh Engineering College, Landran launched an extensive Tree Plantation Program in Village Swara, District SAS Nagar, Mohali to commemorated the 550th Birth anniversary Celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and on occasion of Annual Techno Cultural Fest Parivartan in the college.
The students and teachers planted more than 100 different medicinal trees including Sheesham, Amla, Sukhchain, Bhera, Guawa, Arjun and Jabranda at many places in the village and the roadside in a well-organized way. The saplings were supplied by State Forest Department, Government of Punjab, Mohali. In order to restore the eco-balance the aforestation drive was taken with all seriousness.
The participants were highly enthusiastic to make it a big success. The students planted saplings, and watered the plants. Every step of the program was appreciated by the representatives of the village and the local forest department officials. The program created a great stir among the public.
