As per the source provided by Ministry of Human Resource & Development, Govt. of India and All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi after Thapar University and National Institute of Technology (NIT, Jalandhar) Chandigarh Engineering College Landran has become the only private engineering college of the state to have got 5 years of accreditation where as Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh has been granted 3 years of accreditation. Other than CEC Landran only 4 private engineering colleges all over the country have been granted 5 years accreditation in their maiden attempt during year 2009. The 4 colleges are Jaypee University, Solan, Xavier Institute of Management, Mumbai, Coimboture Institute of Technology, Tamil Naidu and RMK Engineering College, Tamil Naidu. Students of an accredited colleges tends to get an additional edge in the competitive international scenario as their degree gets Global acceptance under the provision of The Washington Accord which enmarks their degree at par with the degrees granted by foreign universities, while they become benchmark in India.
